Replacing Hermes Agent at work with approved tools
Workplace security has required to be stopped for now. The concern is that can access the filesystem, run , write to git, and is not on the company’s approved tool list.
A may take months or may never happen. The practical need is to recreate as much of the workflow as possible with already approved tools: Claude Code, Opencode, Warp, and Codex CLI.
The main features to copy are self-modifying skills, across sessions, and scheduled jobs that run automatically. Messaging is not needed for work, because the intended setup would stay local.
Key points
- Security objected to because it can access files, run commands, write to git, and is not approved.
- The allowed tool options are Claude Code, Opencode, Warp, and Codex CLI.
- The desired Hermes-like features are self-modifying skills, , and scheduled jobs.
- Messaging is not part of the work setup being considered.
- A practical replacement would combine several approved tools instead of relying on one agent.
