GripeToGold regularly collects public complaints from , Hacker News discussions, and questions to find repeated problems. It checks the weekly or monthly, depending on the chosen plan, and groups similar complaints.

It also measures how closely each source relates to the problem in its group. Each possible opportunity receives a score based on how painful the problem seems and how relevant the supporting evidence is.
