Cursor silently switched to Claude Opus, burning 22.6M tokens
A Cursor user set the model to 'Cursor Grok 4.5 High' in , then proceeded with via by typing 'proceed with ' rather than clicking Build. Instead of continuing in the current chat, the tool created what looked like a separate Multitask-style sub-window that had to be clicked into. The user didn't notice until the task was about 80% complete, at which point the sub-instance showed it had been running on instead of the selected model.
This resulted in 22.6 million tokens being consumed unintentionally. The issue occurred on Cursor version 3.9.16, and it's unclear whether it was a UI quirk or an actual bug.
