No-app iMessage assistant Dexi: what a week of Reddit Q&A taught the builder

Dexi is an you interact with entirely through iMessage text — no app to install. After the builder posted an update on Reddit, the comments turned into an extended Q&A.

Three questions kept coming up: how Dexi differs from a similar ed Poke, why users should trust it with email access (the answer: OAuth-based scopes that are revocable, though a formal hasn't happened yet), and whether it works in Europe (not yet, and that answer landed poorly). On results, the signups traceable to Reddit came mostly from comment replies, not the original post — answering skeptical questions honestly converted better than any marketing pitch.

On the downside, the signup page broke for a few hours right when the busiest discussion thread peaked, and has since been fixed. The service remains capped at 100 testers due to a slow Google app-review process.
