How to count users after an early app launch

A new app is 5 days into launch and has a goal of getting 100 users within 30 days. The clear signed-in user count is 12, unchanged from 3 days earlier.

At the same time, reviews are coming in and people are clicking the download button on the website. The app also shows 64 , but some of those may be the founder’s own test activity before moving over user data.

The main question is whether people who enter as guests, without using , should count toward the 100-user goal. Another problem is how to persuade s to create an after they already chose the guest path.

Key points

  • The launch goal is 100 in 30 days.
  • The current signed-in user count is 12 after 5 days.
  • There are 64 , but some may be test activity by the founder.
  • , , accounts, and repeat use should be tracked separately.
  • s are more likely to create an account when sign-in gives them a clear benefit.
