A home server moved from a large R620 to a laptop to cut power use
Several were moved from an old enterprise R620 server to a laptop. The old machine had 128GB of and eight 800GB SAS drives.
The new machine has an i7 processor, 64GB of , and one 1TB NVMe drive. Large storage had to be moved somewhere else.
Even with that tradeoff, the laptop is better in almost every other way. Old can be fun to use, but the electricity cost made it hard to justify.
