Remote SSH access is hard when a home server is behind CGNAT
Both home internet connections are stuck behind , so the cannot be reached directly from outside. The first goal is to run Pi-hole as a personal DNS server, then later use it for VPN access too.
The problem is that cannot find a public address that actually points back to the home network. also needs low delay because the server owner spends most of the time on another continent.
Key points
- Both ISPs put the home network behind .
- Pi-hole is planned first for personal DNS, then possibly for VPN access.
- cannot see a usable public address for the home network.
- matters because happens from another continent.
