Claude Max 5x cut session-limit hits from 12 to 3

An analysis of 148 l Claude Code over 10 weeks found 18 cases where the five-hour was reached. Twelve occurred on Pro between May 20 and June 1, while only three occurred during the next 29 days on Max 5x. The remaining three happened around the time of the upgrade.

For 11 of the 12 Pro limit hits, usage within the five-hour window was worth about $7.60 to $16.80 when calculated at the API prices in effect that day. The middle value was about $11, with one unusual case reaching $24.40. The reset timers shown at all limit hits added up to about 32 hours.

These figures were not actual charges. They were estimates made by applying API prices to s in Claude Code's JSONL logs, so they may not match Anthropic's undisclosed method for setting limits.
