Solo dev builds text-to-speech app 'Frateca' entirely with Claude Code
A mobile app called Frateca was built over several months using Claude Code alone. It converts webpages, PDFs, Substack or Medium articles, and pasted text into natural-sounding speech, playable like a podcast or audiobook even while running in the background.
It can also take or accept a photo of text and read it aloud. The app avoids requesting by default, only asking for when the user chooses to convert something from their device.
Under the hood it uses (Expo) for mobile, Node.js and React for the web version, and Framer for the . Free apps are available for iPhone and Android, plus a free web version that works in any desktop or laptop browser.
