17-year 3D artist moonlights as gamedev, gets first real traction on 3rd attempt
Someone who spent 17 years as a 3D artist in film and advertising teamed up with a programmer met through a Facebook group to build games after work hours. Their current project, called "Skinator," is their third attempt at making a game. It's a fighting-style game where players steal body parts from defeated enemies and install them onto their own character, using pre-rendered 3D graphics reminiscent of classic titles like Mortal Kombat or Killer Instinct.
For the first time, the project is getting real public , including a Twitch stream where streamer Mo1st played the game live. The pair still relies on work to pay the bills and haven't reached the point of going full-time on the game, but the recent has given them renewed hope.
